Doily Wall Hanging - more and better photos
Recently I joined the new CROCHET CREW GROUP on facebook. Devoted crocheters post photos of their projects. It's such fun!
So I posted about my wall hanging and got some enthusiastic responses. Realized that the quality of the photo was not stellar, so here it is again, for my blog.
Cleaner and clearer this time.

Project plan for 2013
Saw this on facebook. I want to make something like it with my old doilies and maybe with a groovy daisy done with crochet string. Staple them to a wood board then hang it up.

December doings
Added several of these "soft touch" crochet hooks to my life.
As my mother once said, "It's important to use the right tools for the job!"
Flower combo as art installation.
With a Michael's gift card, I went crazy for the cotton yarn
that works on these potholders!
These seasonal potholders are gifts to Karl, host of the annual
Xmas Tree Trimming party in Brooklyn.
He's a serious cook, so he will certainly use them.

Sampler Blanket
Smiley's Yarns had their big holiday sale this week at the Holiday Inn ballroom on West 57th. Bought quite alot of this colorful cotton yarn. The plan is to make 16 squares, each using a different crochet stitch, and then sew them all together. This one is "shell".
I would rather think about this project than do anything.. except maybe go out to dinner!

Today I am teaching Alice how to blog. We are thinking of using this image:
She was a writer of this fabulous book.
I love it.

Flower Test: Rose or Daisy?
Replies to this test:
Facebook:
Jessica Hentoff Rose
Jessica Hentoff Complex, a multi sort of person, beautiful but with thorn
Peggy Monahan Daisy
Odella Schattin Daisy
Dan Hermann Rose. The daisy is VERY 70s.
Betty Chen Daisy.
Alice Pifer pattern on the left! but both are gorgeous!
Dee Ratterree Daisy
Rainbow Reitz Although the Daisy screams HERE I AM, I do prefer the softer complexity of the Rose, by any other name
Terrie J. LoCicero Rose.
Cynthia Millman Daisy
Rebecca Reitz I just love getting these responses. So interesting to learn which flower holds appeal. I have no psychological analysis about your choice. Love, Rebecca
Email:
Hannah: Daisy. But it's just because it's higher contrast. It depends what mood I'm in.
Daisy seems more 70s, flower seems more 40s.
Daisy seems more 70s, flower seems more 40s.
Sarah: Hard to tell as I like them each equally but for different reasons. Rose for classic and daisy for retro.
Wendy: For me - daisy - it reminds me of flower power!
Gabby: Daisy really pops out both are lovely xoxo
- For me? DAISY absolutely. Love this flower.

Forest colors
Sent this to sister Robin in Arizona for her new home.
These are her colors.
She says:
"I think it is absolutely the perfect blanket for me.
I love, love, love it!"
